Food Access Programs
Riverwalk Market Fair believes that all people deserve access to healthy, locally grown food regardless of income level, status, gender, race, or any other factors. We provide that access through programs like SNAP/EBT, Power of Produce (POP) Club, Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Programs (S/FMNP), and through our Farm to Families Program partnership with the Northfield Community Action Center Food Shelf.

Farm to Families Program
As the Riverwalk Market Fair ends each summer Saturday, we take an important step to boost food access in our community. RMF utilizes donor funds to purchase high-quality, locally grown produce at a bulk rate from our participating vendors. This ensures our farmers receive additional income while providing a substantial volume of nutritious food. This fresh produce is then immediately transported to the Community Action Center of Rice County, where it is distributed to community members through their essential food shelf network.
This initiative is made possible only through the generous support of our donors. Donate here!

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides food assistance to low-income individuals and families through an EBT card. Program participants can use their SNAP benefits at Riverwalk Market Fair.
There are four easy steps to use your SNAP-EBT at RMF:
-
Go to the Riverwalk Market Fair information booth.
-
Swipe your EBT card for the amount you want to spend.
-
Your total will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10. Get $10 in free Market Bucks. (Double your benefits!)
-
Shop for up to $20 of SNAP-eligible food and produce at Riverwalk Market Fair.

The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program is a federal program administered by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. The program provides fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and herbs to low-income seniors.
Check here to see if you are eligible to receive $50 per summer to spend on fresh produce. Riverwalk Market Fair is an Authorized Farmers' Market where program participants can use their benefits.

The Power of Produce (POP) Club provides a fun opportunity for children to engage in the local food system through conversations directly with farmers, educational games, and exposure to new fruits and vegetables.
POP Club kids, ages five through twelve, receive $5 tokens to spend at the market on produce, allowing them to make their own shopping decisions at the market.
Stop by the POP Club booth every Saturday to participate!
