Support Farm to Families

In 2024, Riverwalk Market Fair partnered with the Community Action Center of Rice County to buy leftover produce from vendors to sell to the CAC food shelf at the end of the market each week. This resulted in over 5,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables being distributed through the CAC food shelves in just a 10 week period and $14,850 being added to the income of local produce farmers.

In 2025, with the help of our donors, we were able to significantly increase our impact by donating 15,500 pounds of fresh produce to the CAC food shelf and add $35,000 of income for local produce farmers.

LOCAL FARMER INCOME

We believe our Farm to Families partnership with the Community Action Center was incredibly impactful for our local underrepresented farmers and our local foodshed in 2024. With one-in-five families in Rice County using the food shelf regularly, we know how incredibly important this work is.

Addressing food insecurity in our community is an important mission of Riverwalk Market Fair.

The federal grant that funds the continuation of this program, the Local Food Purchasing Assistance Grant (LFPA), has been cut. At Riverwalk Market Fair we value this work and would like to do everything possible to continue to be able to provide this service for the benefit of our farmers and the community. We invite you to work alongside us by signing up for a recurring donation in one of our four food access levels.

You can also create your own level if none of these are a good fit for you! One-time donations are also gratefully accepted.

Recurring donations are year-round, while Riverwalk Market Fair only operates from May - December, any funds collected in our “off months” will be saved and put towards food access programming for the upcoming season!

Feeding Our Community Fundraiser

The Feeding Our Community Fundraiser is the primary engine fueling the success of our Farm to Families Program. More than just a local gathering, this event is a key moment to unite with our community around the vital mission of food access.

Attendees will enjoy an evening of local flavor and entertainment, including:

  • hand-crafted brews,

  • live musical performances,

  • cuisine from our market vendors,

  • and a curated silent auction of items generously donated by local artisans.

Don't miss this chance to support a critical cause in a vibrant, celebratory setting.
